Based out of the Lewa Wilderness Trails lodge, Walking Wild offers guests the unique opportunity to explore by foot the remote valleys, hills and plains of the famous Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and two Maasai community conservation areas--Il Ngwesi and Lekurruki. These three areas provide some of the most stunning lanscapes in Africa, and Walking Wild unlocks these wonders with an exceptional team of local Maasai guides and camels.
Led by the experienced Lipan Kitonga, who has walked these lands since he was a child, this unique adventure will take guests to a range of fantastic campsites that suit the season, game movements and guests’ preferences.
Sleeping a maximum of ten guests, this small, special safari unit is able to deliver experiences that cannot be achieved by vehicle. It is low impact, traditional and packed full of adventure. Guests set out walking across the countryside while camels and Maasai transport the camp, meeting up each evening for unforgettable nights in the bush. Each tent unit has the capability to sleep two people on comfortable bed rolls. Each tent comes with its own private shower and toilet tent. The camp is designed to offer privacy without depriving guests of a view of the African stars.
Walking Wild is suitable for any age group. The experience outside the confines of a lodge creates a memorable component of any safari. While its natural and simplistic sense of adventure makes Walking Wild unique, the interaction with the Laikip Massai makes the experience so special. There is nothing like exploring the bush with its traditional guardians. Walking Wild can unlock parts of the soul that a traditional safari cannot--every walk is a different journey.
Walking Wild embodies everything that a genuine mobile safari should be.
