Wilderness Trails lodge sleeps just eighteen guests in either family cottages in the garden or private chalets on the hill looking towards the former northern frontier district. Each of the rooms is quite different from each other having changed in style both with the times and with the different generations of the Craig family that have run the property.
All the Wilderness Trails rooms have a sitting room area with bar and open log fireplace as well as private en suite facilities. For those that wisely spend time enjoying and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings there is plenty to keep you busy. A tennis court, swimming pool and table tennis provide onsite activity which is complimented by a well stocked shop, a game viewing balcony in the sitting room and a library for those that seek something a little more sedate.
The main areas of Wilderness Trails Lodge sit along a small wooded valley in which a river flows all year round. For those that spend time in the lodge it is here that some of the very best game, including Lion, Leopard and Elephant, is often seen frequenting this reliable and shaded water source.
Wilderness Trails food is as much part of the region as our small team. Where possible it is sourced locally with much of it coming from our own farm. The lodge grows fruit and vegetables for its restaurant kitchen in the nearby garden. Here we grow over sixty different varieties, all of which feature on the menu when in season. This combined with locally sourced meat and cheeses made by the Craig family means the meals are a very family affair. Importantly, the organic nature of our lives reaches far beyond the lodge, and indeed the conservancy boundaries, with community projects far into the northern rangelands as well as closer to home. You are welcome to explore these as much as what Wilderness Trails or Lewa Conservancy offers.
