Lewa Wilderness Trails

Adventure in Comfort

The lodge is just nine exclusive rooms: five cottages tucked into the hillside overlooking Lewa’s Western Marania Valley, plus three family cottages set beautifully in the midst of green lawns and a flourishing garden. Each room is luxuriously comfortable with it’s own rustic charm, while the relaxed atmosphere makes guests feel like they are visiting an old, family friend. Each of the rooms is different from each other, and all have a sitting room area with bar and open log fireplace as well as private en suite facilities.

For those who are yearning to spend time relaxing and enjoying the beautiful African surroundings, there is plenty to keep you occupied. An infinity pool and sunbathing deck, tennis court, billiards and table tennis provide onsite activity. The game viewing balcony off the sitting room is a perfect spot to bring a book from our fantastic library and to listen to the river flow down the valley as elephants, rhinos and maybe even leopards pass by.

Wilderness Trails is proud of the ongoing efforts to be a self-sustaining destination.

All rooms are fully furnished with beautiful, unique pieces of furniture that have been designed and made here at the Wilderness Trails workshop. The carpets are also made on site as part of our carpet-weaving project that also employs and trains local craftspeople. Guests can visit both the furniture workshop and the carpet-weaving project to see how the craftwork is done.

The Wilderness Trails food is deliciously home-grown and authentically homestyle. Our food is also a family affair, as most of the produce comes from our own farm, depending on what is in season. Our eggs, milk, cream, and goat’s cheese also come straight from our farm, which is still run by Will Craig’s mother, Delia.
